Head teacher appointed at Janvrin School

Andrew Willis

A NEW head teacher has been appointed at Janvrin School.

Andrew Willis was selected following a “rigorous recruitment process”, said the Education Department.

Mr Willis takes over the role from Iain George, who retired in December.

Mr Willis, who has worked for the Education Department as a senior adviser since 2022, will start working with acting head teachers at the school – while completing his work with the department.

In a statement, the Children, Young People, Education and Skills Department said they were “happy” to announce the appointment, adding: “Mr Willis has extensive school leadership experience, both in Jersey and internationally.”

Mr Willis said: “I am honoured to be able to lead Janvrin School as its next head teacher and am hugely excited by the prospect of joining the strong community and committed team.

“During the interview process it was a joy to work with the children, and to see how proud they are of their community and their learning – they were a real credit to their families and the school.

“I am looking forward to meeting again with all staff, and getting to know the parents, carers and children at Janvrin over the coming months.”
