CONDOR has put one of its ferries up for sale.
A listed advertisement for Condor Liberation, one of the operator’s fast ferries, has appeared on Shipselector.com, an online market place for large ships and vessels.
The vessel was purchased by Condor Ferries in 2015 for £50 million. Its current price is listed on the website as “available on request”.
In a recent interview with French media, Jean-Marc Roué, president of Brittany Ferries’ governance board, said that what would happen to the vessels currently operating the Jersey route was “under discussion” – but that it was likely some might be sold.
Brittany Ferries – Condor’s parent company – launched legal action against the government in December after losing out on the Jersey bid to Danish firm DFDS. However, the Court of Appeal last month decided the appeal would not have “a realistic prospect of success” and dismissed it.
A pan-island selection process collapsed last October when Guernsey announced it was picking Brittany Ferries.
DFDS – which has signed a 20-year contract to provide freight and passenger services between the Island, the UK and France – starts operating from 28 March.
