FIREFIGHTERS were called to the police headquarters on Tuesday evening after a fire broke out in the server room.

The blaze occurred in building on Route du Fort at around 11.15pm.

Three fire engines attended the incident.

In a statement, Jersey Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the room and began to tackle the fire.

“The automatic fire suppression system efficiently activated, and the fire was quickly extinguished.”

Police headquarters staff were prepared to evacuate the building but this was not necessary as the fire was quickly put out, according to the statement, and those working in the Emergency Services Control Centre were ready to move to the back-up facility at the States of Jersey Ambulance Service Headquarters.

It was confirmed that there was no disruption to incoming 999 calls, and no one was injured in the incident.
