PORTS of Jersey’s new floating holiday pods have been included on a list of “the most exciting hotels” to open in 2025 recently published by The Independent.
Built by UK company Waterpod, “The Shells” can sleep up to four people and include a bedroom, a kitchenette, a bathroom, a front-deck overlooking the marina, and a living room with a sofa bed.
They arrived in the Island in November and opened at the start of this month.
A recent travel article in The Independent, looking at “the most exciting hotels opening in the UK and Ireland this year”, included The Shells on its list and described Island life as “all about being on the water”.
“Floating in the Marina in Jersey’s capital, St Helier, two floating holiday pods present an opportunity to wake up at sea,” the article said.
“Built to high eco standards, both are thermally insulated and powered by air-source heat pumps and solar panels to ensure maximum energy efficiency. Each pod costs from £175 per night.”
Harbourmaster Captain Bill Sadler said: “We are delighted that The Shells have been recognised by The Independent, which has highlighted both the unique experience they offer as well as their spaciousness and high standard of sustainability and energy efficiency.”
He added: “We look forward to welcoming more holidaymakers and Islanders to enjoy this exciting new addition to the Harbour.”
