A VAN driver who sped at 33mph along a green lane has been banned from driving for a month.
The Magistrate’s Court heard that 35-year-old Luis Paulo Alves Nunes drove his silver Nissan van along La Blinerie in St Clement on the morning of 9 October.
Green lanes have a maximum speed limit of 15mph and motorised vehicles have to give priority to any pedestrians, cyclists and horses they encounter.
The court heard that Nunes had two previous convictions for speeding.
He admitted the new offence and said: “I’m really sorry. If I lose my driving licence, I’ll lose my job. It won’t happen again.”
However, Relief Magistrate David Le Cornu replied: “It did happen again, in 2023 and 2022.”
He agreed to impose a short ban and allowed Nunes to pay a £400 fine at the rate of £100 per week.
