FIRE engines were called to a St Helier flat on Friday evening after a 999 call reported the property being filled with thick smoke.
Jersey Fire and Rescue reported that firefighters had entered the property at around 7pm, isolating the electricity supply and removing an item of faulty electrical equipment.
In a social media post, the service said that the smoke had then been cleared, allowing the occupants to return home, and that no-one had been injured.
A spokesperson said: “We would like to commend the actions of the occupier for recognising the danger, promptly alerting the Fire Service, and following safety procedures by getting out and staying out.”
