A NEW grant programme has been announced by Lloyds Bank Foundation for the Channel Islands, and is due to be introduced during 2025 as the organisation celebrates its 40th anniversary.
The programme is designed to help organisations which have been affected by the cost-of-living crisis, with some charities closing last year and many citing struggles paying bills.
Ten grants of £40,000 each will be available for charities which have experienced a significant increase in demand. Applications for the grant open on 31 March 2025.
An additional “specialist” programme will also be announced in June 2025.
Successful charities are also being encouraged by the organisation to take advantage of the free “transformative” developmental support offered, which includes mentoring and charity forums providing business, financial, management and marketing support.
This year saw the closure of mental-health charity Jersey Recovery College and Beresford Street Kitchen’s tea room at La Hougue Bie, both owing to financial pressures.
“The past few years have been especially difficult for charities,” said Lloyds Bank Foundation for the Channel Islands chair Philippa Stahelin, “beginning with the Covid-19 pandemic and followed by the cost-of-living crisis, which have had the double impact for charities of increased demand and increased cost.
“As we celebrate 40 years of giving in the Channel Islands, we want to ensure these charities who have been most affected receive our help, and so I’m delighted to announce our 40th Anniversary Grant Programme.”
