A PUSH for corporate sponsorship and donations for next year’s Jersey’s International Air Display is underway to ensure the event “can have the best future possible”, organisers have said.

This year’s event faced uncertainty and setbacks, including funding concerns – with Islanders ultimately raising over £30,000 to help bridge a “shortfall in financial support”.

The crowd-funder was in addition to the government’s contribution of at least £40,000, though organisers had stressed the grant was lower than in previous years.

In August, Economic Development Minister Kirsten Morel warned that the government “will not always be able to be relied upon for extra funding” and that it was important the display sought to “professionalise” and find more commercial sponsorship.

Organisers have started a drive for corporate sponsors for the 2025 event, which is set to take place on Thursday 11 September, and are also appealing for donations through an online fundraising page.

“In 2024 we were overwhelmed by the support of the public and we are working to move the funding of the display onto a more sustainable and consistent basis,” the JIAD team wrote on the fundraising page.

“We will be seeking additional sponsorship for 2025, but want to make sure the event can have the best future possible.”

Speaking to the JEP, lead organiser Mike Higgins said that various “problems” that had delayed fundraising efforts for previous displays were “no longer present”.

He continued: “We are hoping to raise funding through corporate sponsorship, the government grant and the SportsGiving page, so we can put on the best display we have had in many years.”

Mr Higgins added that some aircraft – subject to securing the necessary funds – had already been booked for next year’s display.

Potential sponsors can find out more information via the jerseyairdisplay.org.uk website or donate online by searching for the Jersey International Air Display 2025 SportsGiving page.
