THE majority of flights to and from Jersey have been cancelled today amid Storm Darragh.
At the time of writing almost all of today’s arrivals and departures had been cancelled, with the exception of a Blue Islands service to and from Guernsey early this morning and a British Airways flight from London Heathrow scheduled to land at 8.15pm this evening.
In an update issued this afternoon the government said that Jersey’s Emergency Planning team, in coordination with Jersey Met, is closely monitoring Storm Darragh – which is expected to bring winds up to severe gale force 9 and gusts to 75mph at times this weekend.
Winds were forecast to increase from midday today and are expected to peak between 3pm to 9pm.
The government update added that “this storm is not forecast to be as intense as Storm Ciarán which recorded winds up to Storm Force 11 with gusts in excess of 100mph”.
Heavy rain and flooding are not expected.
