ISLANDERS are being urged to ring the right number in an emergency after a spate of misplaced calls.
A reminder has been issued to dial 999 after the administration team at the Justice and Home Affairs Department received multiple calls from people who thought they were phoning for an ambulance or the fire service.
The calls then have to be transferred to the emergency services control room “losing valuable time to the patient or incident in an emergency”, the department said.
It is believed the error has occurred when Islanders search “ambulance jersey”, or “fire jersey” on the internet on their phone and press the call icon on the business listing.
