ROAD signs worth hundreds of pounds have been stolen in St Saviour.
The parish has put out a public appeal urging anyone with information, or who has noticed “suspicious activity”, to come forward.
The parish believes that the signs, which cost between £250 to £300 each to produce, are being targeted for their resale value.
The incidents have also been reported to the States police, with the parish saying that signs for Mont de la Roserie, Rue de Deloraine, Rue de la Parade, Rue des Pigneaux, Rue de la Commune, New York Lane and two signs from Mont es Neaux have all been taken.
A statement from the parish said officials were “disappointed” that sign theft seemed to be on the rise.
“We are disappointed by these incidents, which are on the rise and which directly impact our community and the cost of maintenance of our public highways,” the statement said.
“We urge anyone with information, or anyone who notices suspicious activity related to parish signage, to contact the Parish of St Saviour .”
Scrap-metal companies have also been asked to notify the parish or the police if any signage is brought in to them for sale.
Theft of public road signs carries a potential penalty of up to £1,000.
