THE Weighbridge Ice Rink is set to open this weekend following a three-week delay due to a damaged electricity cable.

Jersey Development Company announced that the popular attraction will open for the season on Saturday 16 November.

However, a statement said that due to a delay in the installation of the lighting rigging, the rink will only open until 4pm each day through to Tuesday 19 November “to ensure safety in low light conditions”.

JDC said it will be contacting those with bookings made after 4pm during this period to assist with rescheduling.

The attraction was due to open on Saturday 26 October for half term but organisers said an electricity cable running under Weighbridge Place was damaged during the building of the large marquee housing the rink.

The cable had to be repaired by specialist jointing teams which were brought in from the UK.

Further details and online bookings are available at jerseydevelopment.je or by downloading the ‘Jersey on Ice’ app.

Tickets can also be purchased at the ice rink from Saturday 16 November during opening times.

Opening times

Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 November: 9:30am to 4pm

Monday 18 and Tuesday 19 November: 12pm to 4pm

Wednesday 20 and Thursday 21 November: closed

The rink will be open to the published times from Friday 22 November
