THE official start of the festive season in St Helier is less than a month away, with new features being introduced for the first time as Santa steers his sleigh into town on Thursday 14 November.
Musical entertainment at West’s Centre will mark the start of the evening’s festivities from 5pm, while the parade will begin at 7.15pm and make its way down Queen Street and King Street and past the Town Hall before concluding at Parade Gardens.
A Christmas Village is to be set up around Parade Gardens and the Cenotaph from 4pm; it will feature food, drink, entertainment and stalls. Then the official switch-on of the Christmas Lights will take place at 8pm following a family sing-song.
Town shops will start their seasonal late-night shopping, with many opening late on each subsequent Thursday until Christmas.
Town centre manager Connor Burgher, head of engagement, said: “We are excited to be holding the Christmas light switch-on event in a completely new location this year – this will allow us to provide an even bigger and better show than ever before.
“We hope Islanders will join us in marking the official start of Christmas in St Helier – it’s an event not to be missed.”
