THE police have appealed for witnesses who may have information about an alleged assault in St Helier.
The call comes following reports of a man who is alleged to have “repeatedly” assaulted a woman while they were walking through the town centre at around 9pm on Friday 20 September.
Officers hope to speak to anyone who may have seen both people, who are aged in their 30s and are known to have walked from Mulcaster Street to Beresford Street via Hill Street, Halkett Place, Queen Street and Halkett Street, where members of the public intervened at around 9.10pm.
The man was wearing a grey t-shirt and dark workman’s trousers, while the woman was wearing a black top and trousers.
Anyone who may have seen the two people, including drivers who were in the area at the time and may have dash-cam footage, is asked to call police on 612612 or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers via Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling 0800 555 111.
