THE best in local produce features in a farmers’ market to be held in the Royal Square tomorrow and on Sunday as part of this year’s Corn Riots Festival.
From midday until 4pm on both days, a range of local producers will offer fruit, vegetables and other locally sourced produce.
Organiser Trudi Roscouet said the launch of the market came at an important time when there was heightened interest in supporting local businesses and sustainability.
“By providing a dedicated space for farmers and producers to connect directly with the community, we hope to promote a sustainable food system that supports local livelihoods and encourages healthy eating habits. The market is a fantastic opportunity for the people of Jersey to get closer to where their food comes from. By supporting local farmers, we not only strengthen the local economy but also promote healthier, more sustainable food choices,” she said.
She added that the market, supported by Farm Jersey, constituted a modern revival of a timeless tradition of local markets, and reflected the growing demand for access to local produce in a convenient, central location.
