SIX Jersey Airport firefighters have successfully climbed the highest mountains in the UK in a single day to raise funds for a charity that provides free football sessions for disabled young people.
The team completed the Three Peaks Challenge – which involves scaling Snowdon in Wales, Scafell Pike in England and Ben Nevis in Scotland in under 24 hours – in 23 hours and 36 minutes.
Fundraising firefighters Ross Aley, Curtis Monks, Jack Langford, Mark Ray, Neil Harvey and Marcin Mietelka were joined by their recently retired colleague, Alan Bertram, who provided support by driving and assisting the group during their journey.
They have raised over £3,000 for Soccer Stars Juniors, a charity founded by team member Mr Ray that offers free football sessions for young people with learning or physical disabilities.
