THE operator which will run Jersey’s bus network from next year is due to be announced this autumn, the Infrastructure Minister has confirmed.

Constable Andy Jehan provided an update to States Members during this week’s sitting.

The current contract with LibertyBus is due to expire in April 2025.

Mr Jehan said: “The tender process has run according to schedule, and there’s been a good level of interest shown.”

This update follows Guernsey’s recent announcement that Stagecoach has been chosen to manage the island’s public bus service and school routes starting in April next year.

The UK-based operator will replace CT Plus, which has been operating Guernsey’s bus routes since 2012.

The Stagecoach contract will run until 2030, with an option to extend for two additional years.

LibertyBus and its Guernsey equivalent, CT Plus, were both acquired in 2022 by Tower Transit, a subsidiary of Australia’s Kelsian Group.

Kelsian, Australia’s largest transport provider, operates services in Singapore, London, and across the Channel Islands.
