AN open-air concert in aid of the Royal Air Forces Association’s Jersey branch is to be held this week close to where some airmen are buried.

La Ronde Concert Band of Jersey will be performing their regular concert to coincide with Wings Week tomorrow evening in Howard Davis Park.

The small war cemetery in one corner of the park contains the graves of eight Second World War airmen.

The concert will begin at 7.30pm. The band of 31 brass, woodwind and percussion musicians will be playing pieces such as The Dam Busters, Band of Brothers, Bugler’s Holiday, Elgar’s Nimrod, Abide with Me and a selection of popular songs from the two World Wars, with the audience welcome to sing along.

The concert is free but a retiring collection will be taken in aid of the charity.
