A 59-YEAR-OLD man has been convicted of several sexual offences after touching young girls.
The Royal Court heard that the offences came to light when one of the victims told someone that Manuel Amaral Mila touched her while he thought she was sleeping.
During interviews, the police discovered that a similar incident happened with another girl.
Mila was arrested for the offences and his mobile phone was seized and examined, with several indecent images found.
In January, Mila was charged with three counts of making indecent photographs of a child and three counts of unlawful sexual touching of a child. He pleaded guilty to the three indecent-image charges but faced a Royal Court trial this week for the further charges.
A jury yesterday found Mila guilty of all the offences.
Detective Constable Carla Garnier from the Public Protection Unit said: “The young victims in this case have shown immense courage in coming forward to report these incidents. We are committed to investigating and prosecuting all sexual offenders and encourage anyone who has been the victim of a crime of this nature to report to police.
“There are a number of agencies who are in a position to offer support and guidance through all stages of the criminal justice process.”
