ISLANDERS have been praised for their “support and co-operation” as filming for the Bergerac reboot continued at locations around Jersey.
Members of the cast and crew were spotted on Roseville Street yesterday morning.
Those behind the new six-episode series – commissioned by BBC-owned broadcaster UKTV – started shooting scenes here last month, with Bouley Bay, La Pulente, the Royal Square and the Central Market among the initial sites used. Other Jersey locations where filming has taken place include Gorey Pier, Archirondel, St Brelade’s Bay and St Ouen’s Methodist Church.
Executive producer Brian Constantine said filming for the series had so far gone “incredibly smoothly”.
He added: “Much of that is due in no small part to the support and co-operation of Islanders.
“I want to extend our thanks for the warm and generous welcome our production team received during our time here in Jersey.”
Announced in April, the new show is due to offer a “contemporary twist” on the popular detective drama created by Robert Banks Stewart, which starred John Nettles and ran on the BBC between 1981 and 1991.
It is being directed by Peaky Blinders director Colm McCarthy and features Irish actor Damien Molony in the lead role of Jim Bergerac.
Mr Constantine added: “The Island’s breath-taking beauty and diverse landscapes have provided us with a stunning and dynamic backdrop, making Jersey not just a location, but a character in its own right within the show.
“We are also very grateful to the Government of Jersey, the parish teams, Visit Jersey, the Bailiff’s Office, and the honorary police for their invaluable assistance.”
