RARE dolphins were spotted in Jersey waters at the weekend.
Footage of Risso’s dolphins was taken during a Le Mourier charter trip on Sunday.
Check out the video – which shows multiple dolphins leaping out of the water west of the Island – below.
Risso’s dolphins are considered a rare sight as they have a preference for deeper waters and tend to live far offshore.
They are very stocky with blunt heads and no discernible beak.
Though squid is a favourite food for these unique dolphins, Risso’s are also known to eat prawns and shrimp as well as cuttlefish.
They can dive to at least 1,000 feet and hold their breath for 30 minutes.
