HOT-weather guidance has been issued by the government as signs of summer begin to show.
The Island recorded a temperature of 29.2°C by mid-afternoon on Monday – the highest so far this year, surpassing the figure of 28.9°C seen towards the end of June.
Duty forecaster Enzo Davy said that today and tomorrow would see similar temperatures, which are expected to “drop-off” around Thursday.
The government yesterday issued hot-weather guidance, stating that: “Extreme heat can cause heat exhaustion, heatstroke, and dehydration.
“Older people and children are particularly at risk.”
Government tips on how to stay cool during the hot spell include:

Avoiding going outside during the hottest time of day (11am to 3pm)

Leaving strenuous activities for later on in the day when it is cooler

Taking cold baths and showers

Drinking plenty of water and avoiding coffee and alcohol

Keeping your home cool by closing curtains, opening windows and using fans

Wearing a hat and loose, light clothing and trying to stay in the shade

Wearing sun cream when going outside
