A MAN who drove without a licence or insurance – and displayed a window insurance disc for a different vehicle – has been banned from driving for three months.
Silvio Abreu Faria (37) was also fined £1,500 and ordered to carry out 90 hours of community service, after Assistant Magistrate Adam Clarke decided not to impose a jail sentence.
Faria’s Mini Cooper was stopped on Rue du Coin on 20 May, the Magistrate’s Court heard. He admitted not having a licence or insurance for the car and police noticed the insurance disc was for another vehicle.
Faria said he had been driving the car to his workplace because a colleague was interested in buying it and added: “It was one mistake.”
But the Assistant Magistrate said: “You knew you didn’t have insurance. It was deliberate.”
He imposed the community service order and the driving ban for driving without insurance, and fined him £1,000 for driving without a licence and another £500 for displaying an invalid disc.
