IT’S time to start nominating your community heroes…

The Jersey Evening Post’s Pride of Jersey Awards is back for a ninth year to honour individuals, charities and other organisations who go the extra mile.

From that special teacher or thoughtful neighbour, to doting grandparents and children who have achieved so much through adversity, the annual awards recognise those often unsung heroes who help make this Island so special.

All those nominated in the 14 categories will be put forward to a public vote, with the overall winners being selected by a panel of judges. The finalists will be invited to the awards ceremony later this year.

The winner will receive a prize worth £1,000 from the category sponsor.

For the third year in a row, there will also be the special Gary Burgess Award, which will be presented to a community champion chosen by members of the media and the late journalist’s loved ones.

The JEP and main event partner Jersey Post are hoping for another successful year, with 2023 seeing a record-breaking 242 nominations.

JEP editor Andy Sibcy said: “The Pride of Jersey Awards are always a highlight of the Island’s calendar. Gathering together to celebrate the best Jersey has to offer is a reminder of the community spirit that makes this place so special.

“I’ve been humbled and inspired by the stories I’ve heard at previous awards and this year will be no different.

“Anyone who knows a worthy winner should nominate them and help us give Islanders who make a real difference the recognition they deserve.”
