THE Chief Minister has congratulated the Labour Party on their “resounding victory” in the UK general election.
Deputy Lyndon Farnham posted his statement on social media at around 6.30am this morning when it was clear that Sir Keir Starmer’s Labour had secured the majority in the House of Commons, ending a 14-year Conservative government.
Deputy Farnham, who was elected Chief Minister earlier this year following a no-confidence vote, said: “Congratulations to the Labour Party on their resounding victory in the UK General Election.
“We have worked closely and collaboratively with consecutive Conservative governments and look forward to building a close and productive working relationship with the Labour government.”
