A 46-YEAR-OLD woman who drove while over the legal alcohol limit, “screeched” into a car park and hit a wall has been fined £2,000.

Nicola Thompson was found to have 135 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood after she drove off from her home on the afternoon of 6 May. The legal maximum is 80 milligrams.

St Brelade Centenier Amanda Wright told the Magistrate’s Court that one of Thompson’s neighbours had heard shouting coming from the defendant’s house at 2.50pm on the day of the incident.

She added: “At 3.50pm he saw her driving out. She screeched into the JEC car park on Queen’s Road, hit a wall and parked across two parking spaces.”

The court heard that no one had been injured, that Thompson had no previous convictions and had admitted drink-driving at the earliest opportunity. Advocate Nicholas Mière, defending, also pointed out that his client was unemployed.

Relief Magistrate Peter Harris allowed Thompson to pay the fine at the rate of £50 per month.
