A BRITISH comedian who starred in the film Bridget Jones’s Diary and the TV series Miranda is to host this year’s IoD Jersey Director of the Year Awards.
Actor Sally Phillips, who is also known for her role in I’m Alan Partridge, will be at a ceremony at the Royal Jersey Showground on 8 November.
The awards, which are sponsored by Appleby, are described as “the highlight of the Jersey business calendar” which celebrates Island leaders.
Ms Phillips will announce the winners of the ten categories and provide entertainment, according to organisers.
There will also be live music at the event.
IoD Jersey chair Alex Ruddy said they were “delighted” to welcome the comedian to the Island.
She said: “The IoD Jersey Awards are always a huge opportunity to recognise the best of our leaders in Jersey, but they are also a chance for all our members, guests and nominees to network and enjoy a celebratory night out.
“Sally’s unique blend of wit and charm will guarantee a fantastic evening, and I’d like to take the opportunity to thank all our sponsors for making this event possible.”
This year the judging panel is being led by Lisa Springate, a former IoD chair and head of legal and technical for Jersey Finance, who has selected a six-strong independent panel.
Nominations are now open until 5 July – nominees do not have to be members of the IoD.
The Director of the Year Awards Dinner 2024 starts at 6.30pm on Friday 8 November at the RJAHS. This year’s theme is “The Enchanted Forest”.
Tickets are available on Eventbrite.
