A BIG screen will be installed in Howard Davis Park to allow football fans to watch the knock-out stages of the Euro 2024 tournament.

The screen will be part of a free family-friendly zone in the park where no alcohol will be allowed.

All matches from 29 June onwards will be screened.

Islanders can bring their own food and non-alcoholic drink into the area.

Only games which are expected to attract large crows will be ticketed, the government has said, with free tickets available at: gov.je/events

Matches start at 5pm and 8pm, with entry open 45 minutes before kick-off.

Infrastructure Minister Andy Jehan, who is responsible for sport, said: “The Government of Jersey and the Jersey Football Association have worked together to enable this important event in the sporting calendar to be enjoyed by as many people as possible.

“We want to create an environment where everyone can enjoy the thrill of the Euros, no matter who they support. Hopefully the pubs and bars will be packed, and this is an additional alternative which will be more family orientated, and will have a vibrant and exciting atmosphere.”

Jimmy Kelly, chair of Jersey FA board of directors, said: “This is an excellent initiative that will showcase the diverse population of our Island, as well as capturing the impact that a major sports event can have on the Jersey community.

“Football is accessible to everyone and is an inclusive sport to bring people together. If previous international football competitions are anything to go by, we expect a significant increase in the number of people wanting to play, and we hope that this event will inspire Islanders in the same way.”
