A 17-YEAR-OLD girl has been jailed for a year after attacking a male with a machete.
The attack left her victim with “significant injuries” to both his hands and long-lasting scars and injuries, the States police have said in a statement released following the teenager’s sentencing at the Royal Court.
The defendant – who cannot be named for legal reasons – visited the victim’s home in St Helier late in the evening armed with the machete.
She confronted the victim at his front door and a physical altercation took place.
The defendant pleaded guilty to grave and criminal assault and possession of the machete at the time of the incident, but denied intending to use this to cause harm.
She was sentenced to a one-year custodial sentence and also given a three-year restraining order.
