A 64-YEAR-OLD builder died shortly after being sedated for dental treatment, an inquest heard yesterday.

Gary Frank Nicholson, who spent decades working in the building trade and ran Nicholson Builders, was due to undergo a dental procedure on 21 May but became unwell after being given sedation.

He was taken to hospital but died in the Emergency Department.

Mr Nicholson’s company announced his “tragic and sudden” death in a recent Facebook post, with Islanders responding to pay tribute.

Many Islanders said they were shocked to hear the news, with Mr Nicholson described as a “wonderful person” and a “wonderful kind man”.

Assistant Coroner Cyril Whelan adjourned the inquest into Mr Nicholson’s death yesterday to allow for further investigations to be completed.
