YOUNG Islanders will now be allowed to see a chart-topping artist who is headlining the inaugural Battle of Flowers Sunday concert following a rule change.

Fans of Wet Wet Wet singer Marti Pellow were disappointed to find out after buying tickets that the concert was only open to over-18s.

Mr Pellow is due to perform at the Battle as part of a greatest-hits tour. The concert is being held in collaboration with Jersey Opera House as its first off-site event, with age restrictions in place due to licensing and permissions.

However, the rule has now been changed following customer complaints, according to the Opera House.

The venue’s theatre director Andy Eagle said: “In response to our customers’ feedback, the upcoming Marti Pellow concert in collaboration with the Battle of Flowers will now be a family-friendly event.

“This is a significant occasion for us as it marks the first time the Jersey Opera House is hosting an event of this scale outside our theatre, which is currently closed for refurbishment.

“We are dedicated to providing an inclusive experience for all ages.”

He added: “The concert will now be open to all. Please note that under-16s must be accompanied by a parent and/or guardian.”

Mr Pellow is due to perform on the last day of the Battle (11 August) in the Lower Park, while Eurovision star Sam Ryder is performing on the Friday.
