JERSEY Airport has reminded Islanders to arrive at the terminal in “plenty of time” ahead of half term next week.

A statement posted on social media said: “If you’re flying out this half term, please arrive at the Airport with plenty of time before your flight departs.

“Most airlines ask passengers to check in at least two hours before, but some may vary, so please refer to your flight confirmation for details.”

Flights out of Jersey were delayed on Thursday morning after Guernsey Airport’s runway closed briefly when an aircraft suffered a hydraulic failure during landing.

Guernsey Ports said the Dornier 228 aircraft reported the technical failure on approach shortly after 8.10am.

Its statement, they said: “The aircraft landed safely on the runway but was unable to taxi off. There were no injuries reported, and the 17 passengers on board were transferred to the terminal by bus.

“The Guernsey Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting Service attended the aircraft, which was subsequently towed off the runway at 8.41am.

“The runway reopened at 8.50am and normal operations have now resumed.”

The 40-minute closure caused the late arrival – and departure – of a Blue Islands flight to Bristol, after the plane was unable to take off from Guernsey.
