A MAJOR search and rescue operation is under way for a man who has not been seen since early Monday morning.
The States police say they are “increasingly concerned” for the welfare of Adam Daniel McGrath (58) and are appealing to anyone who has had contact with him to get in touch.
He was last seen at home in Rue du Maupertuis in St Clement. Unusually, he was heard leaving the house at 5.30am.
His family car, a white Ford Fiesta Zetec, was found in the car park at Grosnez Castle, St Ouen, late yesterday afternoon.
Mr McGrath is described as a white man with white hair, approximately 5ft 9ins tall and of broad build. He is thought to be wearing a black or navy short-sleeved top, dark grey or black wide legged tracksuit bottoms (either Lonsdale or Adidas) and black Skechers.
Rescue workers have searched the headland where his car was found. Police dogs, Jersey Coastguard, lifeboats, Jersey Search and Rescue, Channel Islands Air Search, Jersey Fire and Rescue Service crews and honorary officers are all assisting in the search.
The main focus of the search efforts so-far has concentrated around the north-west part of the Island, with other areas also being identified.
The States police said: “We understand that the public may be keen to assist in the search, but we would ask that they keep the area clear to allow the search and rescue efforts to continue unhindered.”
Anyone who has had contact with Mr McGrath, or has any information, is being asked to phone the States police on 612612 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
