WEEKENDER Festival is set to move from the Royal Jersey Showground to a new location at the People’s Park.

Tickets are due to go on sale on Friday for the festival, with organisers announcing that this year’s headliners will be singer-songwriter Tom Grennan and Glaswegian rock band Texas.

Posting on Facebook, festival founder Warren Le Sueur said that he was planning “a fallow year” from the usual venue in Trinity, and promised festival-goers “a very special edition”.

Tom Grennan, who was nominated for two Brit Awards in 2022 for his song “Little Bit of Love”, is due to play in Jersey on Saturday 31 August.

He will be followed by Texas, who were founded in 1988 and have released 10 studio albums. The band played the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury last year, while lead singer Sharleen Spiteri has released two solo albums.

Weekender Festival, which started as Jersey Live in 2004, has previously always been held at the Trinity showground – and has hosted acts including Ed Sheeran, Madness, Ellie Goulding, and Razorlight.

Warren Le Sueur’s brainchild Jersey Live ended after the 2016 edition and was replaced by Weekender.

Tickets to the festival will be available from 7pm on Friday online at: weekender.je.

A second batch will be released on Sunday.
