JERSEY’S supply chain resilience has been put in the spotlight again after all three of Condor’s freight ships were confined to port earlier this week.
The Commodore Clipper passenger and freight vessel was out of action on Sunday and Monday after suffering a “technical issue”, while the Islander service overnight on Tuesday and Wednesday was cancelled due to “operational reasons”.
The Commodore Goodwill freight ship is currently in Poole for scheduled maintenance.
On Tuesday, Jersey Post said that the disruption had meant no post or parcels had arrived in the Island since Saturday evening.
However, some parcels were due to arrive on Tuesday afternoon with deliveries planned for yesterday. “These shipping delays mean we’ll have a busy week – but our team are preparing to get your post and parcels processed and delivered as quickly as possible when it arrives,” Jersey Post said.
Some Islanders also took to social media to complain about low-stocked shelves in supermarkets on Tuesday.
Condor apologised for the inconvenience caused by the Commodore and Islander cancellations in a communication to customers.
