A 32-YEAR-OLD man has admitted hitting a woman in the face with a glass bottle – but said he had been aiming at someone else.
Grant Kegoe planned to throw the bottle at another customer in Vittoria Bar & Nightclub in Liberty Wharf in the early hours of 10 March, but as he drew his arm back he released it and it hit the woman in the face. The bottle did not break but she was left with bruises and swelling.
Kegoe pleaded guilty to grave and criminal assault when he appeared in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday. The Relief Magistrate, Peter Harris, told Kegoe: “It could have been a whole lot worse.” He postponed sentencing for a background report and released him on bail to return to the court on 23 May.
