High tide causes disruption for morning commuters

LONG queues of traffic backed up around town on Tuesday morning after several main roads were closed due to high tides.

The westbound lane of the Avenue was shut between The Grand Hotel and First Tower.

Havre des Pas was closed from the roundabout to Green Street.

In a post, the States police said the coast road from Green Island to the Rice Bowl was also closed.

Roads re-opened by 10am.

An orange tide warning was issued by Jersey Met, with waves breaking over sea walls on the south and east coast around high tide (7.45am).

The States police encouraged Islanders to “stay safe and give yourselves enough time for your travel”.
