GALE-FORCE winds are due to hit Jersey overnight while some coastal roads could flood due to high spring tides.

The Island is expected to see gale-force eight winds into Tuesday morning, with 55mph gusts.

An orange wind warning has also been issued by Jersey Met for the Channel Islands shipping area with severe-gale-force-nine winds forecast.

Some coastal roads could close during the high tide (7.45am) on Tuesday morning.

An orange tide warning has been issued, with waves expected to break over the sea walls on the south and east coast.

This could cause some flooding, Jersey Met warned, and close coastal roads.
