THE crane on Gorey Pier is back in action after specialist contractors completed investigations into the structural problems beneath it.
Ports of Jersey confirmed that remedial work had been carried out by Geomarine, after initial examinations found areas of potential voiding in the quayside.
Inspections of the breakwater also found damage along several areas of the upper pierside wall, believed to have been caused by Storm Ciarán.
The crane was temporarily taken out of service, but Ports has said it was inspected by its mechanical engineering team and returned to operations.
In a statement, Ports said: “The Gorey Boat Owners’ Association and local marine traders have been kept informed and contingency measures were put in place for any boat owners whose vessel needed to be lifted in or out of the water.
“We would like to thank boat owners, and Gorey Yacht Services, for their help while the crane has been out of service.”
