A 61-YEAR-OLD architect has admitted claiming more than £5,000 in income support to which she was not entitled.

Teresa Jane Blakeley pleaded guilty to the charge of fraud when she appeared in the Magistrate’s Court.

The court heard that Blakeley, who ran a successful architectural practice, had claimed the money in the form of support to pay her rent.

The Magistrate, Bridget Shaw, sentenced her to 140 hours of community service.

Steve Jackson, group director of Customer and Local Services said: “If Islanders receiving income support think they may need to update Customer and Local Services due to a change of circumstances, we have made it easier to update us on a claim.

“This can be done online, by telephone on 444444, or by visiting Income Support in La Motte Street.”
