A 35-YEAR-OLD man who got into a fight outside a bar in St Brelade has been fined £1,000.

Marcin Czeslaw Grobelny admitted causing a breach of the peace by fighting.

St Brelade Centenier Amanda Wright said Grobelny had gone to the bar on the evening of 5 November to collect his girlfriend, but the pair were seen arguing as they waited for a taxi outside.

A man went to intervene and Grobelny, who the court heard was very drunk, pushed him away before falling and cutting his head badly.

He then got up and took a swing at the other man.

Both men were arrested at around 3am but Grobelny was treated in hospital before being interviewed by the States police.

He said he could not remember the fight but pleaded guilty to the offence.

Before issuing the fine the Magistrate, Bridget Shaw, gave him credit for the plea and the fact that he had no previous convictions.
