FORMER ministers will be lining up to question their successors when the States Assembly meets for the second time since a new government was formed at the end of January.
Six of the ten oral questions on the agenda tomorrow will be asked by Members who have returned to the back benches, having been key figures in the past government before the no-confidence vote toppled former Chief Minister Kristina Moore.
Ex-Health Minister Karen Wilson will ask her successor, Deputy Tom Binet, about his plans to reduce spending on locum and agency staff, while former Housing Minister David Warr will question the man who replaced him, Deputy Sam Mézec, about revenge evictions.
Chief Minister Lyndon Farnham faces a question from former Environment Minister Jonathan Renouf about his plans for a new Common Strategic Policy.
Deputy Farnham will also face questions without notice, alongside Home Affairs Minister Mary Le Hegarat and International Development Minister Carolyn Labey. Before those questions are asked, the Assembly will deal with a range of appointments, including Deputy Farnham’s proposal to make Deputy Rob Ward the Education Minister and membership of committees and Scrutiny panels.
Public business looks like it will be dominated by Deputy Montfort Tadier’s proposition that Jersey calls for a ceasefire in Gaza. The two remaining propositions on the agenda cover expenditure savings for the Cabinet Office, put forward by Deputy Max Andrews, and the reappointment of Alistair Calvert as a commissioner for Jersey Overseas Aid.
