ISLANDERS have been given a glimpse of Jersey Opera House’s “beloved dome” as restoration of the iconic feature gets underway,
The £12.7m refurbishment project of the venue, which is being carried out by Ashbe Construction, began late last year with the estimated completion date in December.
With images of the dome, officials wrote on the Opera House’s social media: “The canvas is ready and the colours are chosen!
“Get a glimpse of our beloved dome, prepped and ready for the talented decorators Maybank Architectural Restorations.”
The Grade 2 Listed building first closed in March 2020 as a result of the Covid-19 outbreak. However, it did not re-open when restrictions were lifted due to health and safety concerns.
In autumn 2022, £11.5m of funding was allocated in the Government Plan to the project, with that figure rising to £12.7m last November.
