SOME of Britain’s brightest would-be entrepreneurs will be shown desperately searching for a bargain in Jersey tonight when they take part in the shopping list challenge in the latest series of The Apprentice.

Two teams of hopefuls, vying for the prize of becoming a new partner for business magnate Lord Alan Sugar, were set the task of finding a range of items for the cheapest price possible before returning to London – and the dreaded boardroom.

The items included Jersey Royals, apple brandy, a surfboard, Jersey Wonders and a “mystery” (to the shoppers at least) item of a bachîn bowl used in the making of black butter.

The format of the series involves two teams competing against each other every week, with Lord Sugar then issuing his famous “you’re fired” directive to candidates from the losing teams. After 12 episodes, a winner is chosen and secures a £250,000 investment into their business plan.

Viewers tuning into tonight’s episode will note a number of familiar locations and Island faces, but may end up scratching their heads at some of the negotiating tactics.
