THE States police are appealing for information after a van drove through a red light and hit a young girl on Queen’s Road.

The incident happened at around 8.20am on Wednesday.

The police said that a silver Ford Transit Connect van stopped at the traffic lights by Morrisons.

Before the lights turned green, the van drove forward and hit a teenage girl who was walking across the road at the time.

The van driver failed to stop and check on the girl or call the police.

The girl, who went to school and notified them of what happened, sustained some pain in her leg but did not require any hospital treatment following the incident.

Anyone who may have seen this or who has any information about the vehicle or driver is asked to contact police on 612612 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via their anonymous online form at Crimestoppers-uk.org.
