A BLUE Islands plane declared an emergency and returned to Jersey on Wednesday morning after its landing gear became stuck.
The aircraft had just departed to Exeter at about 9.30am when the pilot reported that the gear could not be raised.
In a statement, Ports of Jersey said: “There was an emergency declared this morning [Wednesday] when the landing gear of a departing ATR aircraft (the SI2206 to Exeter) became stuck and could not be raised.
“The plane turned back and landed safely in Jersey at 9:39am.”
In a statement, a Blue Islands spokesperson said: “Flight SI2206 from Jersey to Exeter experienced a technical issue and returned safely to Jersey as is standard procedure in such instances.
“Passengers were transferred to another aircraft to continue their journey to Exeter. Whilst any inconvenience is regrettable, passenger, crew and aircraft safety is our number one priority at all times.”
