THE Durrell Challenge has been suspended for the foreseeable future, organisers have announced.

The gruelling 13k road run from St Helier to Jersey Zoo, which raises funds for wildlife conservation, takes place every May and regularly attracts hundreds of runners.

In a statement posted to the race’s social media, organisers wrote: “As of 2024, we will no longer be holding The Durrell Challenge.

“We are extremely grateful to everyone who has taken part, fundraised, and donated towards our mission of saving species from extinction.

“Our very first Durrell Challenge was in 2015, and we are incredibly proud of what we have achieved with your support through these fantastic events!”

The organisers also encouraged Islanders to sign up for the Durrell Dash, a festive run which takes place on 1 December.
