A MAN who hid drugs down the front of his boxer shorts has admitted possessing cocaine.

The Magistrate’s Court heard that Rorey Benjamin Allo concealed the drugs in his underwear when he saw police officers approach him.

St Helier Centenier Paul Huelin, prosecuting, said the officers were on foot patrol in the town centre on the evening of 19 August last year and went towards the sound of an altercation in Wharf Street. They noticed Allo putting his right hand inside his trousers.

A strip search at police headquarters uncovered a bag containing 870 milligrams of cocaine.

The court heard that the 25-year-old had numerous previous convictions for drug offences, including a spell in youth detention for possession of ecstasy and cannabis with intent to supply.

Advocate Mark Boothman, defending, pointed out: “There is no evidence whatsoever of commercial supply.

“Mr Allo does not regularly go out and is not a big drinker, but he was offered cocaine. He made the decision in drink.

“He is disappointed with himself and offers his sincere apologies.”

Advocate Boothman suggested a fine rather than another custodial sentence.

The Magistrate, Bridget Shaw, agreed to impose a £1,000 fine but told him: “This association with drugs has to stop.

“If it continues you will end up back in custody.”
