Man fined for possessing drugs… after his grandmother reports him to police

A 21-YEAR-OLD man whose grandmother reported him to the police for drugs possession has been fined £1,000.

The Magistrate’s Court heard that Tyler Bolton’s grandmother found cannabis in her home in St Clement on 16 October and phoned the States police.

Bolton was arrested and gave “no comment” answers when interviewed.

Advocate Lauren Taylor, prosecuting, told the court that the defendant had numerous previous convictions for possessing and supplying cannabis.

Advocate Sarah Dale, defending, conceded that Bolton had “a very obvious history of drugs” and had been using cannabis to deal with a pain in his knee.

She suggested the matter would best be dealt with by way of a fine.

Assistant Magistrate Adam Clarke agreed and told Bolton: “You are not a first-time offender and you were less than co-operative with the police.”

He ordered him to pay the fine at the rate of £50 per week.
