A BERTH in Elizabeth Harbour will be closed for five weeks from tomorrow, Wednesday 24 January, with Ports of Jersey saying they are working with Condor to “minimise disruption” to services.

The ferry firm has apologised to affected customers, but said the closure “regrettably” means it had no other option but to reschedule sailings for a three-week period next month.

Repairs are taking place to fenders which protect ships from hitting the dock, according to Ports.

A spokesperson from Ports said: “We have been in regular communication with the ferry companies and other stakeholders since autumn last year to minimise disruption to services.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this planned work.”

Ports of Jersey further explained that while the roll-on, roll-off ramp was fully functional, the berth had to be closed “due to the nature of the work”.

A Condor spokesperson, said: ‘We have been notified by Ports of Jersey of the closure of one of the ro-ro ramps in St Helier port for works, which impacts our sailings for three weeks next month.

“Regrettably, this means we have no option other than to review vessel movements over the period. All passengers and freight clients affected are being notified of any changes to their sailings by our contact centre and port teams. We apologise for any inconvenience this will cause which is through circumstances out of our control.”

The ferry company lists sailings between Friday 9 February and Wednesday 28 February as being caused by the berth closure.
